We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the United Reformed Church, Russell St., Tavistock. Meetings start at 7.30 pm and all interested in Peace are welcome to come along. There is no charge.

We will be holding a ‘Ceasefire in Gaza’ vigil in Bedford Square, Tavistock every Friday starting November 17th 2023 between 4 and 5 pm. The next vigils will be every Friday in 2024 until there is permanent ceasefire. All welcome to join us.

The next meeting of Tavistock Peace Action Group will be Tuesday, May 7th 2024 at 7.30 pm in the United Reformed Church, Russell St., Tavistock. All welcome.

There was a very successful public talk ‘Militarism and Climate Change’ by Tom Unterrainer, chair of CND, on Wednesday, February 7th 2024.
On Saturday August 5th 2023 Tavistock Peace Action Group was in Bedford Square, Tavistock to commemorate the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
“In Other Words” a play by Jenny and Paul Shryane of Script in Hand Theatre was staged at the the United Reformed Church, Russell St., Tavistock on Tuesday, May 23rd.
On April 4th 2023, 7.30 pm, Rowena Francis spoke about her experiences in the West Bank as part of the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel. ‘Eyewitness: Stories from Israel and the West Bank’.
At the Tavistock Peace Action Group’s meeting on the 7th of March 2023 the film ‘How to change the World’ was shown.
There was a public talk by Chris Cole, director of Drone Wars UK, titled ‘The Use of Armed Drones in Warfare’ at 7.30 pm, United Reformed Church, Russell St., Tavistock on Tuesday, February 7th 2023. He is a well regarded campaigner and has given evidence to several Parliamentary committees.
There will be a stall in Bedford Square, Tavistock to mark Hiroshima Day on Saturday August 6th 2022 between 11 am and 1 pm. All welcome to join us and to sign anti-nuclear petition.
We organized a silent vigil for peace in Ukraine on Sunday, March 6th 2022 between 12 noon and 2 pm in Bedford Square, Tavistock. Over 60 people came including the Mayor of Tavistock. The Tavistock Times covered the event.
On February 8th 2022 Dr. Martin Mowforth, Visiting Specialist in Development Studies at the University of Plymouth, gave a talk entitled ‘Has Trump’s Wall Stopped Migration to the United States?’. It was about the factors leading to thousands of people from Central America walking to Trump’s wall and a look at US border policies.
